Andrea Wray

Andrea Wray, nee Beckford, is a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, class of ’81.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland (College Park), and a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Howard University, Washington D.C.

 

Ms. Wray returned to Jamaica in 1988 and took up the post of Speech Language Pathologist/Speech Therapist for the Kingston Regional Hospitals in the Ministry of Health, working at the Kingston Public Hospital, Mona Rehabilitation Hospital and Bustamante Hospital for Children. In 1995, she left Government service to develop her private practice, The Speech and Language Center.

 

Ms. Wray is also the Speech Therapy representative on the Council of Professions Supplemental to Medicine (CPSM), which is a licensing board within the Ministry of Health.

Ms. Wray co-authored the Speech and Language component of a screening and referral tool developed by the Ministry of Health and UNICEF.  This research paper was published in the third edition of the Journal of the Children’s Issues Coalition.

Ann-Merita Golding

Ann-Merita Golding is a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist/SLP (Speech Therapist) who trained at Howard University and is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association(ASHA). She evaluates, diagnose and treats individuals of all ages from newborns to those young at heart who present with varying impairments that affect speech & language, swallow and cognitive function.

She particularly specializes in Communication and Swallow disorders associated with stroke and traumatic brain injury, but sees a broad spectrum of patients and clients with communication disorders.

​

She is the owner and founder of Speech and Swallow Rehab/Therapy which is a Speech-Language Pathology private practice focused on evaluating, diagnosing and treating developmental and acquired speech language and swallow disorders to improve function, independence and quality of life.

Michelle J. Skeete

Michelle J Skeete, MS, CCC-SLP, OM is an American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech and Language Pathologist and Orofacial Myologist. She attended the Howard University in Washington DC, where she completed an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Masters of Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Prior to her return to Jamaica, she held positions in facilities in various states in the USA including New Jersey, Nevada and South Carolina under a traveling therapy position.  On returning to Jamaica in 1999, she was also certified by the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine and she took up the post of resident Speech and Language Pathologist at the Mico College C.A.R.E. Centre, where for six years she participated in the team approach to treating children with various disorders. She then embarked on private practice and regardless of its challenges was excited about the autonomy to use her expertise and experiences creatively to impact on various disorders which affect the speech and language skills of persons in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Although Speech and Language Pathology is a profession which covers disorders of children and adults and many persons in this profession have made the choice to work with either adults or children. However, she has chosen to work with both populations and has been treating disorders which affect infants, young and older children, such as feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, language, voice or fluency disorders. Disorders that affect adults and the elderly are also treated in her clinic; articulation, voice, fluency as well as disorders such as swallowing and aphasia and dysarthria which can result from a stroke or head injury. 

​

She is also currently involved with a team of professionals who are working in a residential rehabilitation unit which provides comprehensive team approach therapeutic intervention for persons who have had strokes and head injury. This unit is the only unit of this kind in the English speaking Caribbean.

Kerine Chin Campbell

Kerine Chin Campbell is a certified American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Speech and Language Pathologist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Speech Communications and Theatre Empathy and a masters degree in Speech and Hearing Science, both at Tennessee State University. She is also a trained teacher from Bethlehem Moravian College and taught English Language and Computer Studies at the secondary level. She returned to Jamaica and started practicing in 2007, giving her more than a decade of experience. In her spare time she is passionate about singing and acting and has provided voice overs for commercials and engages in voice coaching for interns. These experiences have helped fuel her appreciation for speech and language disorders.

Ann Marsha Burkett

She completed her Masters in Speech Therapy at Long Island University before returning to Jamaica. She is currently the only Speech Therapist working in Montego Bay, providing speech therapy for the entire western side of Jamaica.
